This hike started at 11:17 in the morning on a beautiful Wednesday morning. The peak was somewhat breezy but all around this was a very enjoyable hike. I highly recommend this hike to anyone in the adirondacks that wants to take their children hiking.

The hike started out at around 2:45pm just as the sun was beginning to lower itself in the sky. We passed a small creek and continued on to complete the first third or so of the trail to Haystack Mountain.

At this point we turned back as the day was getting late and the sun went down. Great training in preparation for climbing the 46er's.

Day Hike: Scarface

The hike started out at around 11:30am just as the sun was shining down from it's peak during the warmest part of the day. The trail continued through some pine trees(where the squirrels and birds were actively getting ready for the winter by gathering as many pine seeds as they could) and then crossed some railroad tracks that are a part of the Adirondack Scenic Railway.

From here the trail crossed over a bridge and up a small hill to reveal a cathedral looking spot where many animals were eating seeds, climbing trees and playing around in this natural sanctuary. Half a mile of hiking brought me to a strange burned tree. It was thoroughly burnt, yet another tree not even three feet away from it was left untouched. I believe it to be a tree that was struck by lightning but it may also be from a campfire....any thoughts?
